Blogging is becoming the new way for everyday people to connect with mass audiences. In this generation, people are more comfortable sharing their thoughts with the world, and social media has become an outlet for them. Aside from this, artists have begun to utilize blogging as a way of promoting their work and creations. Although these creative professionals have the upper hand due to how effective social media can be, there are still some things you need to be careful with while using them in a business manner. In order to have a successful artist blog, you must be able to find that balance between personal and work How to Begin Your Artist Blog
When first starting your blog, the two key elements you should focus on are sharing personal content and being transparent. In most successful blogs, the writers are open about themselves and users feel connected with them. It’s understandable that because this would be a business page you won’t share all of your personal affairs. However, users are more likely to follow if the content is relatable. Let's compare this to a relationship. As a creator, you are trying to build a relationship with users so they can become part of your typical online audience. Even if someone’s primary purpose is to network, you’re still building a relationship based on business. When having an organic relationship with anyone you have to be willing to share certain information to establish trust. Once that trust is established, they can fully support you and be beneficial to your success, in addition to how you are affecting their lives as well. How To Maintain It After you have successfully created your artist blog you must do the challenging part of maintaining it. This can be difficult for many reasons, including keeping the balance between personal and business, continuing consistency, and venturing out into other aspects to enhance your artistry. To help you manage this, keep in mind what your blog is intended for. If you happen to gain other personal interests from your blog, remember you do have other personal settings to maintain that balance. Staying consistent can be difficult because outside factors (family, work, health, etc) could interfere with how often you are able to upload. Venturing out could help with appealing to other audiences, but that could also mean stepping outside of your comfort zone for the good. Understanding the purpose of your blog will help you build a network and kickstart your career as you continue your artistic journey. When You’re Ready A lot of times as professional adults, we feel pressured to have everything together and be on top of everything when it comes to our careers. It’s okay to have a career change and start over to get into the artistic world. As long as you are following your passions you are on the right path. Having an artist blog is a great start to that new career to put yourself out there and gain that exposure. These are the tools for you and whenever you’re ready to start is the right time.
