Guitarist, performer, teacher, composer, video maker and photographer Francesco Rocco is an active versatile artist mainly working in the UK and Italy.
He holds a MMus at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London where he specialised in classical guitar under the guidance of Graham Anthony Devine.
Graduated with full marks at the Bologna Conservatoire in the class of Walter Zanetti, during his studies joined INCROCI Lab with Maurizio Pisati and ZEROCREDITI with Francesco La Licata. Meanwhile, in 2015 he attended the Segovia Guitar Academy in Pordenone with Paolo Pegoraro and Adriano Del Sal. In addition to his music studies, he is a Bachelor Environmental Engineer, graduated in 2016 at Università degli Studi di Padova.
He has participated in Masterclasses with eminent musicians such as Leo Brouwer, Oscar Ghiglia, Fred Frith, Carlo Marchione, Marcin Dylla, Luciano Contini (lute), Alberto Rodriguez (flamenco guitar) and many others.
Francesco distinguished himself in guitar competitions such as Alison Stephens’ (UK, 1st prize), Concorso Internazionale Giovani Musicisti “Antonio Salieri”(Italy, 2nd prize), Concorso di Esecuzione Musicale “Città Piove di Sacco” (Italy, 3rd Prize).
His versatile approach to guitar led him to perform in a wide range of ensembles, exploring genres such as Tango, Contemporary, Opera, Popular and Traditional Music, and he passionately transmits his love for music to his students.
Francesco is Vice President of Lilium SoundArt, an association that promotes music, art, science and culture in general, working alongside young musicians and cultural institutions to create high quality cultural digital projects to valorize the dialogue between arts. Lilium worked with museums and cultural venues around the world, from UNESCO Nomination “PadovaUrbsPicta” campaign, to MoMA (NY), Padova University and Negozio Olivetti (Venice) .
Curiosity: Francesco holds a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering (Università degli Studi di Padova), practices yoga regularly, adopted two stray cats and is constantly trying to improve his cooking skills, he’s always keen to learn new recipes from friends and colleagues around the world
